My Heart Had a Thought

My heart had a thought as the sun rose above;
Its works were like those of one wise as could be:
The moment the earth prayed it might lend its light
It took the Hyades as a guaranty.

יחשוב לבבי


יַחְשֹׁב לְבָבִי בַּעֲלוֹת שֶׁמֶש
כִּי מַעֲשֵׂהוּ מַעֲשֵׂה נָבוֹן
עֵת הָאֲדָמָה שָאֲלָה אוֹרוֹ
יִקַּח בְּנֵי-עַיִשׁ לְעֵרָבוֹן.

Transliteration/תעתיק:

Yaḥshóv levaví baʕalót shémesh
Ki maʕaséihu maʕaséih navón
ʕeit ha-‘adamáh sha’aláh ‘oró
Yikáḥ benéi-ʕáyish le-ʕeiravón.
