I feel like I’ve been neglecting the Rihal’s love poetry. Honestly, this isn’t one of his better ones. It’s no “Lu Sheḥarim” or “Leil Giltah” or “At Bein `Atzei `Eden.” But it’s still Yehuda ha-fuckin’ Levi.

Yehuda ha-Levi (1075? – 1141?)
Say to Him Who Desires

Say to him who desires to witness the like
Of the moon and the sun in its home
He should hurry to see the two lovers, like fawns
Joined under a verdant green dome
From this splendor the sun hid itself, and the moon
Felt ashamed in the face of this light
And the earth in their company wears clothes of joy
And mute tongues sing out in delight.
