Yannai
Our Eyes Have Dimmed

Our eyes have dimmed with longing for your love, Loving One
We are hated with an enemy’s hatred
See our distress within,
Behold our hatred without
Like Leah, whose distress you saw
And whose hateful afflictions you beheld
She was hated within
And loathed without
But not all who are loved are loved
And not all who are hated, hated
There are those hated below and beloved above
Those who hate you are hated; those who love you are beloved
We are hated because we love you, Holy One
